What is Aviral?

Aviral – Reducing Plastic Waste in the Ganga is a project implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and funded by the Alliance to End Plastic Waste (The Alliance) with the objective to reduce plastic waste entering the environment. The pilot project is developing approaches for sustainable and replicable plastic waste management solutions and demonstrating best practice examples through capacity enhancement activities at local level. The initiative is building on the existing flagship programs of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (Namami Gange) and the Clean India Mission (Swachh Bharat Mission).

What is the qualification to apply?

  1. Any legal entity with at least 6 months existence
  2. Ideas which are ready to implement in a pilot setting, having a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of at least TRL5 according to the European Union definition (technology validated in relevant environment – industrially relevant environment in the case of key enabling technologies)

What happens to my solution once it is submitted?

  • The submitted solutions will be treated with confidentiality. After submitting your solution, your proposal will be evaluated by our experienced selection committee. Successful applications are invited to be implemented in one of the two cities Haridwar and Rishikesh.
  • Shortlisted applications, which did not win the final decision, but are of high interest, can be included in a business compendium for potential investors. The inclusion of our solution in the compendium is voluntarily.
  • Non-successful applications will be deleted after the end of the challenge.
